SPECIAL NEEDS (Special Education Program)

Moura Special Education Program encompasses the students with diagnosed impairments at Moura High. Moura High has a class that is part of Moura SEP within the grounds. This class has a Special Education Teacher, trained Teacher Aides and regular contact with the Head of Special Education Services. The classroom provides sessions that focus on areas outlined for individual needs with access to internet and modified facilities.
Students support is provided in a variety of ways depending on individual needs:
Students paricipate in a range of functional programs to extend their ability to survive in the real world , such as:
ADVISORY VISITING TEACHERS / THERAPISTS
Diagnosed students are supported by Advisory Visiting Teachers for Speech Language Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Vision Impairment & Physical Impairment. They also have access to Education Queensland's Occupational Therapist, Physio Therapist and Speech Language Pathologist. These services are co-ordinated through the Head of Special Education Services and provided by EQ staff from Gladstone.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Students from year 10 and above are involved in work experience that varies to suit the needs of the individual. Students have 1 or more placements at various businesses around Moura.
