At Moura State High School, opportunities exist for students to experience practical leadership in the roles of school captain, vice captain, house captain, vice house captain and senior leaders.
To be selected, students must respond to a selction criteria seeking endorsements from staff and provide referees. Students are then short listed and interviewed by a staff panel. The next stage is for studetns to address the school assembly outlining their leadership qualities. Students and staff vote using a preferential system.
The whole process is designed to reflect the real life process of recruitment and selection as well as electoral systems in Australia.
Successful candidates are encouraged to experience practical leadership by attending regular meetings with the principal , exercising initiative in promoting student activities and repesenting the school at official functions.
