Moura is proud to be a winner of the "Can Do" Community Award for 2004. Moura has also been the proud recipient of several "TidyTown" Awards.
Moura is situated approximately 65 kms from Biloela, 170 kms from Rockhampton and 180 kms from Gladstone. Surrounding towns include Banana, Theodore, Baralaba, Wowan, Bauhinia & Biloela.
Moura is a prosperous community with many local industries. These include Moura Coal Mine, Queensland Ammonium Nitrate Plant (QNP), Cotton Gin, Gas Company and Beef and Agricultural Farming. Moura is part of Banana Shire with Biloela being
the closest major centre.

EVENTS

Each year in August, Moura holds its Coal and Country Festival which incorporates a large procession, wood chopping, roof bolting, coal shovelling, community concert, rodeo, smash up derby, moterbike racing, stalls, rides and much more.

The Dawson Valley fishing competition is an annual event that is held out at the Dawson River. Many prizes are awarded each year for both junior and senior sections.

The Ambulance Christmas Carnival is an annual community event which fundraises for the local ambulance committee. Ham wheels, bike giveaways, multidraws and raffles are the feature of the carnival.
