DO YOU HAVE A STUDENT IN THE MIDDLE PHASE OF LEARNING?

INFORMATION FOR YEAR 8 & 9 PARENTS

Moura State High School has completed a phase of restructuring to align our school with Middle and Senior phase of learning principles.

The Middle Phase of Learning (MPOL) caters for students in year 4 - 9. More information about the rationale behind the MPOL can be found in Education Queensland's MIddle Phase of learning State School Action Plan and at http://education.qld.gov.au/curriculum/middle/faq.html

At Moura State High School, we are working towards the full implementation of the MPOL model and the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (QCAR). 2008 is an immplementation and transition year actoss the state for full practice in 2009.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN FOR MY STUDENT?

In 2008, Year 8 students will be divided into two classes (A&B). They willl be offered a program of study which include. NOTE: each 'unit' is one term in length

YOUR YEAR 9 STUDENT

In 2008, Year 9 will be verticallly integrated with Year 10 to allow a board range of subject choices and learning experiences as well as to cater for depth and academic rigour. Students will be able to choose the units of work which best fit their needs and interests
